Your character has suddenly stumbled upon a really big slug, a whole swarm of slugs, or other mollusk.
✦ Any type of mollusk will do! Can be real or fantasy inspired, magical or mundane, land or sea, and can be anywhere from absolutely massive to normal sized. A sluggy pet (official only) is also an option!
✦ Do they get up close to observe this strange animal, or are they grossed out and will only regard it from a safe distance? Maybe they offer it something to munch on. If they're fond of bug(...?) catching they could also grab it for their collection.
✦ There is also word of a very abnormally large space slug out there. Petting it is said to bring good luck, and a lot of slime.
